With the Game Season in full swing and not due to end until the end of Jan 2011 we are busy buying game from local game keepers and shoots on a daily basis.<br /><br />The benefit of game meat is that it is local, wild and nutritious food, while at the same time providing a focal point for encouraging the local public and friends to enjoy the great taste of game. Game makes great sense, you can't get any fresher produce than seasonal game!<br /><br />With Cotswold Hare to Roasted Wild Duck our Head Chef Oliver Addis is in regular contact with local game keepers to find out what and when game is available, getting visits on a regular basis, selling their produce, direct. Oliver is a firm believer that a good chef needs to be dedicated and focused and have great taste buds!<br /><br /><b>The New Inn</b><br />Coln St Aldwyns, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Ends: 10th October</span><br /><br />From the small town of Warwick, whose literary connections run from Tolkien to Philip Larkin, comes Warwick Words Festival. The event, which began in 2002, runs from 1st to the 10th of October and is now in its 10th year. In the past, it has attracted such writers as Beryl Bainbridge and Andrew Davis. This year is no exception and is promising to be its best yet with such writers as Jacqueline Wilson and Sarah Dunnant coming to the historical town.<br /><br />The festival is holding a host of events to suit every kind of writer; from a market stall, where you can bring along a book and leave with a different one, to workshops that range from writing a biography, to rapping. For those who haven’t had the courage to actually put pen to paper there are coffee mornings with established writers that may help to inspire you. Even the young wordsmiths are not left out, with events such as the Bookstaff Party where the under fives can meet their favourite Tony Ross character, The Little Princess.<br /><br />It’s a definite date in Warwickshire’s literary calendar and may even inspire that future writer or even begin the flame of a future Warwick poet laureate.Robhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01902078275611683430noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-657710714809947754.post-74270936680516030512010-07-26T16:42:00.020+01:002010-07-27T09:54:16.900+01:00Laugh out loud at Cox's Yard<img src="http://www.shakespeares-stratford.com/blog/images/laugh-out-loud-at-coxs-yard.jpg" alt="Laugh out loud at Cox's Yard" title="Laugh out loud at Cox's Yard" /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><p style="font-weight: bold;">The Citroën DS3 Ecomedy Tour: Two comedians, five nights, five hundred miles, one tank of fuel.<br /></p><p style="font-weight: bold;">Dan & Christian will be performing at</p> <p style="font-weight: bold;">03/08/10 - Cox’s Yard, Stratford upon Avon</p><br /><div style="text-align: left;"> </div>Citroën’s DS3 is going on tour - transporting comedians Dan Adams and Christian Ancliff to their first ever Edinburgh Fringe Festival (6th to 30th August). The Citroën DS3 Ecomedy Tour will see the two stand-ups piloting a DS3 DStyle 99g and gigging all the way from London to Edinburgh - a journey of over 500 miles - all on a single tank of fuel.<div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />The pair will put in a performance each night during the tour, playing in London, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Manchester and Glasgow before reaching Edinburgh in time for the start of their Fringe run. The DS3 Ecomedy Tour runs from 1st to 6th August and is supporting Oxford-based hospice, Helen & Douglas House.<div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />To allow members of the public to follow all the action, Dan and Christian will be updating a special tour microsite, <a href="http://www.ecomedytour.com/">www.ecomedytour.com</a> every day with videos, images and words.<div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />Christian Ancliff commented; “It’s our first Fringe appearance, so understandably we’re fantastically nervous and very excited at the same time. Trying out our show material right across the UK during the tour will give us a great warm-up and a brilliant experience.”<div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />Dan Adams added; “We’re testing our humour against the public and Citroën’s technology against the elements. I only hope we can match audience laughs per gig with DS3’s miles per gallon. This should be a terrific adventure for a very worthwhile cause. We look forward to sharing it with the public.”<div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />For more information on each performance or to follow the tour activity, visit <a href="http://www.ecomedytour.com/">www.ecomedytour.com</a><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />Tour updates will also be published on Citroën’s official Twitter and Facebook pages: <a href="http://www.twitter.com/citroenuk/">www.twitter.com/citroenuk</a> & <a href="http://www.facebook.com/CitroenUK">www.facebook.com/CitroenUK</a><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br />The Citroën DS3 Ecomedy Tour kicks off in London on the 1st August and finishes in Edinburgh on the 6th August.<div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Dan & Christian will be performing at:</span><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: left; font-weight: bold;">01/08/10 - The Cavendish Arms, Stockwell, London (SW8 2HJ)</p><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: left; font-weight: bold;">02/08/10 - George’s Jamboree, The Chester Arms, Oxford (OX4 1SN)</p><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: left; font-weight: bold;">03/08/10 - Cox’s Yard, Stratford upon Avon (CV37 6YY)</p><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><div style="text-align: left; font-weight: bold;"> </div><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: left; font-weight: bold;">04/08/10 - The Comedy Store, Deansgate Locks, Manchester (M1 5LH)</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: left; font-weight: bold;">05/08/10 - Uisge Beatha, 232 Woodlands Rd, Glasgow (G3 6ND)</p><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><div style="text-align: left;"> </div><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: left;">Dan & Christian are performing their Edinburgh Fringe show, Baggage of Being, from 7th to 28thAugust at The Globe (Venue 389).
