I can't send an e-mail at the moment, but our favourite places to go in town are Food of Love (gorgeous crepes!), Creaky Cauldron (friendly staff, fun atmosphere), and the Christmas Store (who doesn't love Christmas?). This tends to make life easy as they're all next to each other :) |

A Concert in Aid of Action for Children
Tickets for the concert including refreshments cost £6.50. They are available from Stratford’s Civic Hall on Rother Street, or call on Sheila on 01789 205246
A special concert featuring the acclaimed Alcester Male Voice Choir, with the proceeds going to leading children’s charity Action for Children, is being held at Wesley Hall, Stratford Methodist Church in Stratford Old Town, on Saturday 11 September from 7.30pm.
The programme will feature an exciting range of traditional and modern male voice choir music from the 18th century to the present day.
Amanda Quinn, Action for Children’s Midlands Fundraiser, said: “Alcester Male Voice Choir has established a reputation for its energetic, passionate and enthusiastic performances, and this event will make a wonderful night out. We’re hugely grateful to the choir for performing this concert for us.”
Since it was founded 37 years ago, Alcester Male Voice Choir has sung in venues including Worcester Cathedral, Barcelona Cathedral and El Duomo in Florence, and has held successful tours to Cornwall, Germany, Austria, Spain and Italy.
The choir, which currently has more than 80 members, raises thousands of pounds for charity each year.
The concert at Stratford Methodist Church is being organised by Action for Children’s Stratford Support Group, which works tirelessly for the charity throughout the year. The group raises funds for Action for Children’s life-changing work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children through events including street collections, market stalls, coffee mornings and fashion shows.

Warwick Words Festival
From the small town of Warwick, whose literary connections run from Tolkien to Philip Larkin, comes Warwick Words Festival. The event, which began in 2002, runs from 1st to the 10th of October and is now in its 10th year. In the past, it has attracted such writers as Beryl Bainbridge and Andrew Davis. This year is no exception and is promising to be its best yet with such writers as Jacqueline Wilson and Sarah Dunnant coming to the historical town.
The festival is holding a host of events to suit every kind of writer; from a market stall, where you can bring along a book and leave with a different one, to workshops that range from writing a biography, to rapping. For those who haven’t had the courage to actually put pen to paper there are coffee mornings with established writers that may help to inspire you. Even the young wordsmiths are not left out, with events such as the Bookstaff Party where the under fives can meet their favourite Tony Ross character, The Little Princess.
It’s a definite date in Warwickshire’s literary calendar and may even inspire that future writer or even begin the flame of a future Warwick poet laureate.
